Our adoption process is fairly in-depth. We take all of the following steps in order
to ensure that every dog we take into our group will go to a home as loving as they
deserve. Here are the following steps you will need to take in order to adopt your new companion through Underdog ResQ:
- Contact an Underdog ResQ representative:
This is the first step of the process. You may either inquire about a specific dog by email or
fill out an application for a specific dog.
- Adoption application:
Online applications are the fastest and easiest way to apply. If you would like to mail it in, we
have supplied you with a PDF application form that you can download.
- Application Confirmation:
Once we receive your application, we will contact you within 48 hours to verify that we have received
your application. If you do not hear from us within this time period, the application may not have
come through and you should contact us directly via email.
- Phone Interview:
We will now set up a convenient time to chat over the phone regarding your application.
- Meet the Dog:
At any point in the process after the application has been reviewed, we will arrange a time for you
to meet our dog.
- Home Visit:
We will set up a date/time for a representative of Underdog ResQ to stop by your house and meet you
in person. The visit will take about a half hour and is to make sure your environment is suitable
for a new dog.
Please have proof of ownership of your home handy at this time if you own your home.
- Adoption/Transport:
This is the big day! We will either transport the dog to you or ask you to pick him/her up
(depending on the dog and the situation). We will go over the adoption contract and have you sign it.
Finally, this is when you will pay the $225 adoption fee.
- Updates!!!
We love it when adopters keep us posted on how their new dog is doing. We will even contact you to find out
how things are going. Pictures and stories help to remind everyone how wonderful dog rescue is.
- Questions?
At any point in the process, you may email us with any questions.
We can, at any point in the process, decide that the dog is not the right match.
You should also let us know if you don't feel the dog being applied for is
the best fit for your home.

Common misconceptions before adopting a dog: |
|
1. We’re getting Rex for the kids - they will do all the work.
Maybe for the first week or so, but most kids will slack
off soon enough and the responsibility will fall on your laps.
You are considered to be the owner because you are over the age
of 21. If your kids do not walk Rex, then it is up to you that
it gets done. As much as we talk to our kids about responsibility
and as much as they agree to care for your new dog, we all know
that sooner or later most kids will lose interest or get tired.
If you can positively answer these questions and concerns, then you may be
ready to adopt Rex.
