The success stories are our favorite part. Each dog that is placed on this page lets us know that we are doing our jobs. Each dog that is placed on this page makes room for yet another dog to go into a foster home. Below are some of the success stories of dogs that have been adopted through Underdog ResQ. We ask each adoption family to keep in touch and send photos of their new companions with their new families. When he first came to his foster home he was very skinny, but very sweet. It only took Wallace about a week to find his perfect forever home. He’s now living just outside of Boston with three children who adore him. He couldn’t be happier acting as the family’s new vacuum cleaner and eating up all the crumbs the kids leave behind on the floor. He loves his new home so much that his new mom can’t even tie the kids’ shoes without getting big slobbery doggy kisses. In a note from Wallace’s new family they said “Wallace is an amazing dog. He is so smart and so well trained. We couldn't be happier. He is the best!” Read More >  No Photo Available Name:  Sonny Breed:  Maltese Age:  3-5 Sex:  Male Sonny's Success Story Little Sonny’s story wasn't the happiest story around but ends happily ever after! Underdog ResQ found him in a New York City shelter. He had recently been found as a stray, matted and full of fleas. Underdog was informed that he has a grade 5/6 heart murmur. The city pound expected us to change our mind about taking him but we thought he deserved a second chance. Once with Underdog, an ultrasound showed that he has Chronic Valvular Disease. We all have friends with dogs that have had full lives. Shortly after his admission and medical exams, Sonny was adopted to a loving family in Long Island, NY. It was only through word of mouth that he was adopted because many people were turned off by his medical issue. Sonny now lives in an adult home with another Maltese with medical problems. He was adopted in September of 2008. Read More >   See Photos Name:  Tuna Breed:  Basenji/Pit Bull Mix Age:  1-2 years Sex:  Male Tuna's Success Story A note from Tuna's foster parents who adopted him: Tuna is the best dog ever! After being found as a stray north of Boston, this silly looking boy spent about fifteen minutes as our foster dog before we knew we HAD to keep him. Once we got him home, Tuna found his spot in my lap and fell asleep. Now, this was no catnap… this was a sprawled on his back, mouth open, tongue hanging out, snoring, totally comfortable, deep sleep. It was clear that we weren’t going to be getting rid of him any time soon. Tuna loves everyone he meets and gets a lot of attention when we go on walks, people always giggle at his ears as we pass. He doesn’t like cars very much which can be a problem because people regularly pull over to admire him or ask what kind of dog he is. Tuna is now happily spending his days living with his flunky foster parents in Boston. Read More >   See Photos Name:  Stella (Boston) Breed:  Shepherd Mix Age:  2-3 Sex:  Female Stella (Boston)'s Success Story Stella was admitted by Underdog ResQ in October of 2007 and adopted shortly after in December. Her first life story may not have ended well ,with being found on the streets of Northshore MA, but the new book of Stella is a happy one. Stella now lives with a wonderful family that adores her. Here is a note we received in June 2008 updating us about Stella's new life: Stella has been with us for almost six months, but right from the beginning she made herself at home. She is truly a wonderful girl, loves her “treats’ and becomes extremely excited when her box of biscuits is shaken. Mention the word and she comes streaking from the far end of the yard. She also loves chasing tennis balls (although four good runs is her limit) and riding in the car, anywhere, even if it’s a two minute excursion. Most of all, Stella likes to be with her “people” – welcoming us home from work is a performance befitting a drama queen with much carrying on and stomach rubbing. Like most abandoned dogs, she has a few phobias. She “hits the floor” (under the bed) at the first signs of a fire truck or snow plow and disappears into a corner at the first inkling of a thunderstorm. She is not sure that she cares for other dogs, but more canine socialization is the plan for summer. Read More >   See Photos Name:  Gus Breed:  Anatolian Shepherd Age:  2 years Sex:  Male Gus's Success Story Gus is not a small boy. This Anatolian Shepherd is 85 pounds of pure love. He was picked up as a stray in the northshore of MA and admitted to a foster home with Underdog. Gus is a real eye catcher... his foster parents were hardly able to walk him because they would be stopped every ten feet so that someone could pet him. They would even walk past Fenway park and the vendors would give him chicken from their stand because they loved him so much! Gus never pulls on his leash and he loves everybody. He is such a good boy that he found his new home simply by being himself at the dog park. His foster mom was talking to a man who asked where she got Gus from, and when she told him he was up for adoption then man knew Gus would be perfect for his family. Gus now lives in the South End of Boston with his new family and their dog, Lola. He even gets to go to the Catskill Mountains during the summer and some weekends so that he can stretch his long, long, legs! We’re getting Rex for the kids - they will do all the work. Maybe for the first week or so, but most kids will slack off soon enough and the responsibility will fall on your laps. You are considered to be the owner because you are over the age of 21. If your kids do not walk Rex, then it is up to you that it gets done. As much as we talk to our kids about responsibility and as much as they agree to care for your new dog, we all know that sooner or later most kids will lose interest or get tired.
